Well, folks, it’s finally happened. After a dry spell of about 12 months, I finally have a new story publication under my belt. It’s up at wigleaf.com and I couldn’t be happier. Wigleaf was one of the first flash fiction journals I read when I began writing flash 5 years ago and now I’m in it. It’s a dream come true for me. You can check it out here: wigleaf.com/201912apple.htm
I’m looking at the calendar and it seems like it’s been six months since my last story was published. Wow, has it really been that long? I guess I’d better get cracking on submitting some more stories. Here’s hoping something gets accepted soon!
While my little chapbook still hasn’t found a home yet, it has placed as a finalist for another competition, this time at Palooka Press. I see each personalized rejection as one step closer to an acceptance. All the generous and kind declines have really given me hope it will one day find a good home. Time for another round of submissions!
I’m so excited to have been selected as the Maudlin House Writer of the Week! What an honor. Some of my favorite people in the lit community have been featured there. What great company to be in. You can check it out here: https://maudlinhouse.net/writer-of-the-week-48/
After a few rounds of rejections, being selected as Highly Commended in Ellipsis Zine‘s Flash Fiction Collection Competition really encouraged me to keep submitting. So here’s to another round of chapbook submissions! I’m subbing to three places this time and keeping my fingers crossed.
Well, it’s the end of the road for the Ellipsis Zine Flash Collection Competition. It was great while it lasted. While I wasn’t named as one of the top three finalists, my chapbook was selected as one of the three Highly Commended collections, which in itself is an honor. Many thanks to Steve and Stephanie and the Ellipsis Zine team for such a great journey.
My interview (a first for me) with Josh Denslow about his upcoming short story collection “NOT EVERYONE IS SPECIAL” (a first for him) is now up at The Rumpus! Check it out here: https://therumpus.net/2019/03/the-rumpus-mini-interview-project-167-josh-denslow/
I’m thrilled beyond measure that my chapbook has been selected for the Ellipsis Zine Flash Collection Competition Shortlist! I think I can safely say that this has been the closest that my little chapbook has come to publication. It’s so exciting!
While I’ve garnered several rejections for my chapbook so far, I just found out that it made the longlist for Ellipsis Zine’s Flash Collection Competition! I should find out if I make the shortlist in just a couple more weeks. Crossing my fingers!
My first micro fiction of 2019 is officially up and running at Five:2:One‘s #thesideshow! Be sure to check it out here: http://five2onemagazine.com/skin-game-by-eric-newman/
